FOR THE RECORD: ANNA CYZON’S GOT HER EYES ON THE PRIZE

Polish born blonde bombshell Anna Cyzon is one to watch out for.  A woman after her own success, Mizz Cyzon has been plugging away at her spot in the limelight, making sure it’s on her own terms.

Placing top 20 on 2004’s Canadian Idol, landed Anna a correspondents position with Toronto’s own eTalk, followed by a move 2 years later to MTV Canada where she hosted two shows of her own, MTVe2 and Screen.

Knowing music was where her heart was at, she returned to the scene by writing and filming her first video for Reputation.

Having great luck with her first single ‘Young Boy’, the filming of the video led Kiss legend Gene Simmons to take notice, flying her out to LA to be the first artist to sign to his label, Simmons Records.  Upon declining the offer, Cyzon returned to Canada and continued to write and release her music her way.  Heavily involved in the creating of her own sound, writing much of her vocals, the triple threat continues to keep busy doing what she loves (flying between New York and Los Angeles to record) while dabbling in the acting world and continuing to take fashion risks that place her amongst some of the best dressed in music.  Combining leather and fish net tights with fur and diamonds, Anna Cyzon is a fashion icon in the works.

Whether she’s rocking out or pouring her heart out through her music, Anna Cyzon has a voice full of determination, individuality and heart.

I had the chance to get the low down on this talented soul who is sure to make her mark and make it stick.

Tell me about yourself:

My names Anna Cyzon, I’m a recording artist from Toronto Canada. I like music, cats and long walks on the beach.. just kidding. I’m trying to survive like the rest of us, by doing what I love, staying true to myself, what’s in my heart, and following my dreams.

What are your musical influences?

Oh man, well I grew up on MJ and MC (Mariah Carey that is) I adored Whitney and Madonna but my influences stretch far beyond the pop world… I listen to anything from country to metal. Good music is good music, and great artists defy genre.

How long have you been singing?

Forever. Ever since I can remember I was the loudest kid in the room either talking over everyone or trying to steal the spotlight belting a tune or doing some monkey dance.

Do you play any instruments?

I do, I play very basic piano (enough to compose songs) and I’m trying to learn more guitar… it really comes in handy for song writing but it’s always been my voice that’s been my instrument.

What do you thrive on for inspiration for your sound?

EVERYTHING. Inspiration is all around us, the second I step outside of my house and see sunlight (or rain and cloud) it should inspire me to feel something but I’m not going to lie… most of my writing and songs do come from past relationships and experiences I’ve had… with boys and heartbreak lol

Do you find your music reflects who you are or the person you want to be?

I think with each song I become a better person and better artist. My songs become snapshots of places where I was in my life at a given time but I’m in a constant state of evolution (or so id like to be) so I can never keep up!

Fashionable artist, what are your fashion inspirations for shows?

I love one offs, vintage pieces I’d find for instance in Kensington market Toronto where I know no one else will have the same piece… I usually don’t have a pre-conceived notion I just know what I like when I see it and if it looks good on. Bang! Done

Any desired collaboration with other artists you have done or dying to work with?

I’m going out to Vancouver mid May to work with Grammy award winning producer Chin so that will be really exciting. Id love to collaborate with producer Dr Luke on a song and Cee Lo and/or Drake would be wicked too

Coming from a musically rich province, what drives you to keep creating new and fresh sounds?

I think travel really builds your spiritual wealth… its just always so inspiring to go someplace new and experience something different with others or alone… I just love

NEW places and meeting new people

How do you feel you are contributing a scene that seems to be growing so quickly?

What scene are we talking about exactly lol… I just want to do great work with great people and be remembered for it one day when I’m not here. If I can push the boundaries with art, break limits that have been imposed on me as a female artist in this industry, which in turn will motivate others to live out their dreams… Well what better feeling is there?

What would you say has been the biggest hand in your success?

I’ve had a lot of help from a lot of great people along the way…. to many to name but ones things certain, you cannot do alone what you can do together so I’m super grateful for everyone that has and continues to believe in me

Where has your music taken you (travel/tour)?

I’ve been to my home country Poland of course, then there was Hawaii and India, I’m hoping it will eventually land me in Asia

Any upcoming tours?

Not as of yet no but I will keep you posted!

Where do you see yourself headed in the next few years?

On tour, in studio, continuing to make records, maybe some film?

What do you do in your spare time?

I love Yoga, I spend too much time on my computer that’s for sure…  I don’t really get much spare time. I’m a workaholic

What next for Anna Cyzon?

World domination?

What’s on your current playlist?

Just downloaded this wicked version of Black hole sun by Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme…so good

A musician you can’t get enough of?

ALL OF THEM

Sarah Little
