FOR THE RECORD- “KING CITY” BY SWIM DEEP

First seeing a photo of Swim Deep I thought that maybe they were a dirty verison of One Direction. The New Brighton trio have a track called “King City” cirulation about Jenny Lee Lindberg of Warpaint. After doing a bit of google search it was clear that Swim Deep is heavly influence by the grunge era and have nothing to do with the current boy band scene. On their tumblr there is a photo posted of Kurt Cobain with the words GRUNGE wrote across him. I think it was a book that was put out when grunge was big about how to be grunge. Actually I remember seeing an interview with someone from the grunge era talking about how Sears put out a catalogue with clothing (flannel and boots) was priced 3x the price of what someone that was in the scene would pay.

The guys clearly have a California Dream hard on, that was another thing I noticed from their blog a lot of 90210, and Point Break… but hey, aren’t those a lot of our favorite things?

Anyways this song is far from grunge, but it is a nice little find on a Tuesday morning.
