RUNWAY MONTHLY – MAY 2012
Still on the fashion high from the first Runway Monthly event in April, Calgary Fashion arrived early for the May edition and was the first in line for front row seats! “There should be something like this every month throughout the year,” says Aman Dhalay of Javeda - a sentiment shared by many attendees.
Alykhan Ve and Jason Krell hosted the night of runway fashion and trunk show treasures. Analog Heart, styled by our own Editor-in-Chief, Kimberley Jev, stomped out the fashion rhythm with spectacular jewelry pieces made from colorful vinyl records. Bano eeMee, Shoe Craze, and She Apparel collaborated to continue the fashion melody with rockin’ outfits with edgy notes and glamourous harmonies.
Intermission gave attendees the opportunity to visit the trunk show on the mezzanine of The Bank. Niche sparkled up the room with clutches of shiny crystals, trendy patterns, and fusions of fabrics. My favorite clutches from Niche feature the artistic work of Ali Fateh. Adorie Jewels added more sparkles from their remarkable display of jewelry and accessories. Dagmar Jewellery joined in the chorus of trendy ornaments with sophisticated necklaces, elegant earrings, and dazzling accessories. Fashionable accessories from the styling collection of Crystal Mckenzie were also on sale on the mezzanine.
After intermission, MaNoKin Design brought back the crowd with summery floral prints and sexy feminine silhouettes. The fitted styles created flirtatious looks, perfect for Calgary’s warm season. Runway Monthly ended with a stunning collection from Dionne Dionne. I love the hand painted patterns and the incorporation of fur in her new collection.

Next Runway Monthly is planned for June 23rd, 2012 at The Bank and will have Apiana Que in the runway lineup.
