Last Saturday, Toronto based jewelry designer (and former Calgary dude) returned for a super successful trunk show at Rubaiyat in preparation for Mother’s Day. Dean showed off his newest collection – a modern streamlined architectural group of long structured earrings, super cool “Dual Bar” bangles in varied metals, oversized cuff bracelets, long chain necklaces and big dramatic “Castle” rings made of lapis, labradorite or hermatite. Dean’s return to Rubaiyat was long awaited as the legendary Calgary store was one of the first places to carry Dean’s work over six years ago. He now sells his work internationally, throughout the US and as far as Hong Kong.
Having been featured in pretty much every major fashion publication, such as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and In Style – just to name a few – Dean continues to successfully evolve his line into collections that are continually receiving international attention. Some of my favourites from his latest collections called “Raw Lux” and “Industrious” are the Marquise Dagger earrings and rings, the five cylinder bracelets, the silver and gold collared necklaces, and his super cool new monogrammed necklaces which I will be sporting soon.
Rubaiyat was looking as perfect as ever packed with many loyal customers shopping on a busy Saturday afternoon. The shoppers loved Dean’s work and many were excited to meet the designer himself – he’s a charmer.
Davidson is just one of the few designers Morgan Haight – executive buyer of Rubaiyat – has brought in recently for some exclusive trunk shows held at the well-known Calgary store. More are to come so check Rubaiyat’s page on Facebook for details.
