For the past few weeks, we’ve been glued to our Twitter account, scanning the updates of some of the best in fashion as they traipse from show to show at the fashions weeks. We’ve been taking in the latest from notable design houses as Hermes, Celine, Kenzo and Givenchy.
It’s undeniable, the life of an international fashion reporter can be remarkably glamorous, with invites to major fashion shows being a perk we covet more than anything.
You may be surprised and delighted to hear that while fashion’s biggest names were mixing and mingling at Paris Fashion Week this past week, Calgary was enjoying its own first class introduction to some new and notable designs.
Up close and personal we had the pleasure of getting acquainted with BCBG’s newest for Spring and Summer at the BCBG Max Azria S/S 11 media brunch and shop morning.
Calgary’s fashion media as well as the top stylists were out in full force, snapping photos and fingering fabrics as audible sounds of delight filled the shop. The newest collection of Tunisian born Max Azria is a mish mash of understated basics in inky blacks and blues, buttery greys, and clay toned pinks.
Hoping to master the mixed prints trend while it’s hot? The collection also featured a worthy offering of paisleys, scarf patterns, and several delicate garments in the tie-dye style of Japanese Shibori garment dying.
By way of accessories, a major trend was seen in perforated leather and suede shoes, bags and belts. Last but not least were the many dainty and delicious cocktail dresses and gowns that are a year round fixture at BCBG. This season’s crop boasted a particularly darling chiffon applique shift dress that screamed “Blair Waldorf”.
May we say, what a treat! The only snag in our tights are the seemingly endless bleakly cold days before we can expect balmy weather and the chance to wear the latest of Max Azria
