THE LINK REPORT – YYC EDITION

A magical wonderful thing happened! Last December, Calgary Fashion made the top 15 fashion blogs in Canada.

The blog placed along side the likes of  major contenders like Toronto Street Fashion, which was one of the the first Canadian fashion blogs to boldy go where no Canadian street fashion blog had ever gone…the streets.

We have also been listed along with highly recognized fashion photographer Tommy Ton of Jak + Jil, whose images have not only inspired us but the rest of the world. His breathtaking shots of  the fashion industries most notable fashionistas has seen Tommy rise as a pioneer in his field.

Jak + Jil broke ground with Ton’s unique approach to providing fashion images of actual real life figures behind the scenes of the major fashion publications and fashion houses the world looks up to.

Honoured to be in the Top 15, it is a rather delightful thing to be listed with the people who have inspired us and rooted for us along the way to keep doing what it is we do at Calgary Fashion and that is spreading the local fashion gospel!

Danielle Meder of Final Fashion was one of the first bloggers to really commend us as well as one of the first fashion blogs to link us!

So, what is this all about? Calgary Fashion began in 2007 to prove not only to Canada but ourselves fashion has a home here. We are proud of who we are and proud of how far we have come. In just three years, we have seen amazing leaps and bounds for fashion in this city and we are just as enthusiastic as we were when we first started.

It gives us great pleasure to introduce what will now be a weekly report on the links that are local, national and international. As this is our first Link Report, this week will be focused on the local bloggers and enthusiasts who are shining bright for Calgary/Alberta/Canada/The World.

THE LINK REPORT WEEK ONE – THE YYC EDITION

• Conglomerate Magazine – “Canada’s first fashion week magazine” re-launched last week with a brand new face.The new issue is available for download and the site features in-depth FW 10 reviews from the likes of Mark Fast, Joe Fresh and more.

• Conglomerates’ Q+ A with Calgary model and fashion blogger Ania B as well as  leading Calgary designer Paul Hardy give insight to the faces behind the names.

• KRUHX, the fashion visual team have released a video to coincide with their most recent shoot Pride and Prejudice.

• Ma Cherie Sensuelle assures us “the gorgeous you + a fabulous corset + worn under your jacket combination = collision-causing hourglass silhouette and the feeling of full femininity wherever you go!“

• Our favourite Gypset, Schizo Style introduces us to Lethbridge fashion and lifestyle photographer Lynol Lui, forever dispelling the condescending notion Lethbridge has no fashion.

• We’re also loving the Schizo Style review of the red carpet at the “Golden “Bla Blah Blah” Awards!”

• We want to be everything Born Electric wants her life to be.

• In The Trenches, gives us a round up of some of her End of Year/New Year Faves. We definitely agree to more cake and tea for all!

• The Hip Candy Diaries shares with us the Soundtrack of Her Heart as well as the Hip Candy Diaries Motto of The Year!

•  The Toque Girls give us the lowdown on Innocent Pride scarves!

• Blog sweetheart Amy of Flying A Kite, shows us how it’s done; staying stylish and warm in the winter months!

• Street Style site The Edmonton Vestiary takes us street style watching in Edmonton!

• Bones and Oil is deliciously delicious, you just have to head over there and witness!

• Boyhood Uniformity have been away in Copenhagen but captured La fille est belle  in a maxi skirt (Which we’re ultimately glad is making a come back!)

Approximately 8 000+ Unique Vistors now grace Calgary Fashion monthly!
