Afrikadey 2010 Opening Gala

This evening catch Calgary designer Joke Taiwo participating in the AfrikaDey! Opening Gala. (August 9th 2010) The pieces on show have been created specifically for the Gala and is a result of the collaboration between a fashion and textile designer; Adejoke Taiwo of ALALA.Dreamer (www.adejoke.com) and Nike Okundaye (http://www.nikeart.com/), a prominent textile designer based in Nigeria.

The fabrics have been utilized in a contemporary and modern way. “Often, people do not think of such elaborate prints  being composed into an elegant, tamed and wearable garment, but really that is the challenge;  and I thoroughly enjoy the creative process!”said Taiwo.
