Jason Matlo

On the final day of Alberta Fashion Week, Jason Matlo showed his Fall 2010 collection which was focused on celebrating the strong expression of femininity through minimalism.

The collection was dominated with the colour black with a selection of items in animal print as well as the appearance of a glittery gown to finish the things off.

The Vancouver designer offered a rich choice of clothing – from restrained businesslike suits to tight-fitting shapely dresses.

There were perfectly simple silk pantsuits, eighties skirtsuits, a strapless bustier dress, one-shoulder dresses and a flirty ruffled dress. The collection displayed Matlo’s love of the hourglass silhouette. Most dresses in the collection as well as outerwear were created to define the waist. Matlo would team outfits with a belt to accessorize.

Over the knee length skirts reigned supreme on the runway. However, three sophisticated gowns were unveiled to watchers as well. Every model without exception wore clean makeup and black heels. Success for Matlo came through his fancy outfits honed for practical everyday wear.
