The Kick Off!

And so it begins… Alberta Fashion Week officially started March 21, 2010 with three new collections by Lael Osness, 442 McAdam, and Andrew Majtenyl.

Located at BR& off Stephen Avenue, the room was packed with excited onlookers hoping to get a glimpse of the seasons new lines.

The elegant space of the renovated bank that is BR&, sets the tone upon entering. With high ceilings and a large chandelier hovering over the cat walk, the room seemed perfectly teamed for the big week.

Lael Osness kicked it all off with her new line inspired by the forties, offering up a personal favorite piece: A women’s grey suit and matching hat, that evoked the memory of Katherine Hepburn.

Following that were the bags of 442 McAdam, who’s bags take center stage always. the 442 McAdam show would close with a surprise performance by Reezy Dangerous from House of Dangerkat.

Lastly, a new line from Andrew Majtenyl was up to finish off the night. Having shown in London, Toronto, and Paris this was Mr. Majtenyl’s first visit to Calgary and debut show in Western Canada. Majtenyl’s line started off with thin, free flowing summer dresses made from unique prints, and ended with a sheer, nylon, body suit that waved over all attention.

With only one night down the excitement builds here at Calgary Fashion.

We’ll be trying to update the blogs daily with reviews of the shows.  Also, keep an eye out next week as we’ll be bringing you reviews of all the designers showing. With five more days to go, the week should prove to be one filled with excitement, wonder, and a whole lot of class.
